Arthur Latham Conger Jr was a theosophist and president of the Theosophical Society Pasadena

He studied at Harvard University
and graduated in 1892. After 1894 he studied Theology at Cambridge
, Massachusetts
. He planned to become a priest in the Episcopal Church. However, a bishop learned of his theosophical interests, and gave him an ultimatum: "Church or Theosophy". Conger opted for Theosophy and went to New York City
to work actively in the Theosophical Society

In 1894 Conger became a member of the Esoteric Section of the TS. In 1898, he joined the Army for financial reasons and saw combat in the Spanish-American War, the Philippine War, and the Boxer Rebellion. He later became the U.S. military attaché in Germany
and Switzerland
. He received many military awards.
In 1902 he married Margaret Loring Guild. She died in 1945.
In 1932 he became president of the TS.
