in 1868, then as a member of the Arkansas Senate

Hodges was elected as a Republican
to the 43rd United States Congress
(March 4, 1873-March 3, 1875) representing Arkansas's 1st congressional district
and was not a candidate for reelection in 1874 to the Forty-fourth Congress. He engaged in agricultural pursuits. He died near Marion, Arkansas
, June 6, 1900 and was interred in Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee
