ACHS is known for having one of the premier athletic programs in Louisiana having won multiple state championships in Football, Girl's Basketball, Baseball and Softball, and a possible Cross Country state champion team for 2011.
Football: Ascension Catholic High School has won 3 State Championships in Football, but in recent years the school's football program has been in a slump. In the 2010 season they went 2-8 making it the 6th straight year without a post season. But finally in 2011 they made it in the play offs as the last team and lost to the first team.
The Cross Country team is amazing as of 2011 the boys coming in 1st state over about twenty schools beating the second placed team by three points while the girls came in fifth while there top runner of 6th grade got injured. Her kneecap moved to the incorrect area she is okay and came back to school the next day.
For smarts the ACMS quiz bowl team came in 5th. one spot to the finals. Over all the team had the most points out of the over one hundred teams. They Beat St. Elizabeth and St. Theresa by over 15 points for both matches. The match they lost was only by 3 points it was a close game. The representatives from the 6th grade and 5th grade team in 2010 were hardly trained they said but they had fun and loved it
