Aspley is a suburb of the city of Nottingham
. It is located within the boundaries of Nottingham City Council
.
It adjoins the nearby estates of Broxtowe Estate and Strelley
. Akin to both, at one time it had a dubious reputation for social problems associated with crime, but has benefited in recent years from regeneration and redevelopment work, including the recent regeneration near the Aspley Lane shops, where new car parking spaces have been added as well as the pavement and road surfaces being resurfaced.
Aspley was formerly almost entirely council house
s. Since the 1980s, however, most of the houses have passed into private ownership. Aspley has a good selection of shops, a local library and good transport links (by bus) with Nottingham City Centre

When William Crane school was closed it caused controversy over the remaining students that needed to find a new school. Entertainment and Function venue
Until 2004, The Commodore International,renamed in 1964, formerly The Commodore Banqueting Rooms, renamed in 1958 (Cinema closed), formerly The Commodore Cinema and Ballroom, renamed in 1957, formerley the Aspley Cinema since 1932 which was opened by the Duchess of Portland. Had been available for hire by wedding parties and touring artists such as The Ivy League and Tommy Cooper. This building has now been demolished and replaced with a local Sainsbury's.
