Kamarajar Sagar Dam
is situated in the west part of the village. The population is around 5,300. The Kodaganar River
runs through the village, joining the Kaveri River
. Athoor has a beautiful Catholic church which is about 50 years old.
Sadayandi Temple
is situated in the hill caves. Every year during the new moon of July/August there is an interesting festival, which attracts a good 50,000 pilgrims.
Shri Vandi Kali Amman temple of Athoor is notified as a vary famous temple. Once in a year a festival called 'thirevela' is celebrated here. Alternate festivals of Shri Vandi Kali Amman temple and the other year Muthal Amman temple happens here. The village people think that it is their pleasure celebrating this festival. Here a famous festival happens in the month of October, just like Thiruvaiyaru Mahothsava. Many famous musicians gather here and worship the Lord in "Shri Rama Bajanai Sangam". This kind of worship has been followed for more than 100 years.
