The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (The Contemporary) is a non-collecting contemporary art museum located in the West Midtown district of Atlanta. The center presents 8-10 art exhibitions per year that are free to the public every Thursday. The Contemporary also commissions artwork and organizes approximately 50 educational programs per year. At its facility, the museum provides 14 subsidized studios for visiting artists. The Contemporary features work by local, regional, national, and international artists. The Contemporary also features a retail shop that sells art books, jewelry, and recordings.

History
The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center was founded in 1973 by a group of Atlanta photgraphers as Nexus. The Contemporary moved to its current location in West Midtown in 1989. Its current name was adopted in 2000.Notable exhibits
