Aurora dos Sonhos is an album by the Brazilian progressive rock group Apocalypse
. One year after Perto do Amanhecer
, Apocalypse released Aurora dos Sonhos through Musea Records. Their line-up hasn’t changed and they have opted to use the same producer in order to create their very own sound. Not abandoning their modern neo-prog essence, the band preferred an approximation of the '70s school of progressive rock, and with this Apocalypse achieved an evolution: operatic vocal counterpoints, more elaborate arrangements, better-resolved themes, and more emotion. The exotic nature of the Portuguese singing together with the acoustic intervals creates a music which can be seen in the same vein as the best Italian progressive rock. "A Um Passo Da Eternidade" is an instrumental that can almost be called classical. There’s a piano and a very nice acoustic guitar before the piano takes over once again, leading into and some inventive "water-noises" that introduce further spectacular sounds. "Do Outro Lado Da Vida" offers some nice harmonies and soothing passages before heavy guitar leads take you in another direction. The final track, "Vindo Das Estrelas", is full of breaks and energetic guitar and Minimoog solos.
