In 2006, the club promoted to the Russian Super League B, the second league in Russia. In next two seasons, it finished at 5th and 6th places respectively.

2000—2008
The club was founded in 2000 as "NBA" , which means Nizhegorodian Basketball Club. The first president and head coach of the team was Alexander Khairetdinov. During his lifetime, the club changed its name several times: "NBA" (2001—2002), "NBA-Seti-NN" (2002—2004), "NBA-TELMA" (2004—2006), "NBA-Nizhny Novgorod" (2006—2009). Since 2009 it has its present name BC "Nizhny Novgorod".In 2006, the club promoted to the Russian Super League B, the second league in Russia. In next two seasons, it finished at 5th and 6th places respectively.
