All the seven live children are girls and the eighth one is transgender. The rest of the story is based on all the problems faced by the protagonist Zainub and her family, clash between orthodox mentality of father Hakim Sahib and the modern thinking of the daughter.

Plot
The story revolves around a family, where the head of the family wants a male child. This urge results in the births of 14 children, out of whom only eight children stay alive; the others are stillborn.All the seven live children are girls and the eighth one is transgender. The rest of the story is based on all the problems faced by the protagonist Zainub and her family, clash between orthodox mentality of father Hakim Sahib and the modern thinking of the daughter.
