Bagla Hills are located in eastern Sierra Leone
within the newly created Gola National Park near the border with Liberia

The deposit was first discovered in the 1970s by the now defunct company Bethelhem Steel. Their propspecting report suggests a potential yield of several billions of tonnes of ore in the deposit, however the area has not bee resurveyed since and the potential iron ore yields are speculative.
A railway in Liberia almost reaches the border at Kongo
which is 15 km short of Bagla Hills. However the border is the Mano river.
