Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM) is an association of Bangladeshi Microbiologists.
. From the period of its establishment, it has emerged as the largest association of intellectuals and researchers in Bangladesh. The founder president of the society was the late Major General M. R. Choudhury (Mahmudur Rahman Choudhury
). He died on June 24, 1999. WHO

and human rights community in Bangladesh has lost its founder and a great leader. General was a great soldier in this battle and fought until the very end, as a soldier should do." Now the association is preside by Prof. Dr. S. I. Khan.

In 1989, first batch of students were admitted in the B.Sc. honors course. Department was has active Ph.D.
and M.Phil. programs. Students graduated from the Microbiology
