On June 19, 2009, the government of Bangladesh introduced the UTC+7 offset to utilize daylight savings. Following this decision, the time was advanced by 1 hour on 19 June 2009 at midnight. Prior to that, the country observed a time offset of UTC+6.
The decision was not widely welcomed, it created a lot of confusion initially and gradually citizens faced a change in their lifestyle. The country went back to its original time offset (UTC+6) on January 1, 2010. From April 1, 2010, the country was due to observe daylight saving time
