Encyclopedia
Banyusumurup is a village southeast of Imogiri
in Southern Central Java
or Yogyakarta region.
The village was acknowledged as a 'kris making' location at some stages in the 20th century.
The Graveyard is part of the Imogiri Royal Graveyard complex, traditionally associated with being the 'outcast' graveyard of those who fell out of favour with rulers - in most cases in the 17th and 18th centuries. Folklore in the 1970s attributed the Banyusumurup graveyard as one which people would go for inspiration for lottery numbers, while the lottery system was allowed.
