Barbara Oliver Hagerman, OPEI
(born February 9, 1943) is a distinguished Canadian music teacher and performer and was the 27th Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island
. She is the second female in the province's history to hold this position.
Born in Hartland, New Brunswick
, Hagerman received a degree from Mount Allison University
specializing in voice and organ, and began her career in music in Charlottetown
and Summerside
, the former of which is her current place of residence. She had a very distinguished performance career on the island as a vocal soloist with the P.E.I. Symphony Orchestra. She was also the conductor of the Summerside Community Choir for seventeen years, which performed throughout the Maritimes
and even at Carnegie Hall
under her leadership.
She is an active volunteer as well as a great participant in Canada's music domain. She has volunteered with the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals and the P.E.I. Music Festival Association, and she has also helped seniors and children with special needs.
She is married to Nelson Hagerman, and together they have two children and two grandchildren. Hagerman's mother also resides in Summerside.

on Prince Edward Island as Lieutenant-Governor was confirmed by the office of Canadian Prime Minister
