Barcelona Province was one of the provinces of Gran Colombia
. The territory corresponds almost to the one of Anzoátegui State. The province was part of the Orinoco Department
.
It had that name until 1821 and again between 1830 and 1864, when it was changed to Barcelona State. In 1909 it was changed to Anzoátegui State, in honor of José Antonio Anzoátegui
