Bark Like a Dog is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock
band Screeching Weasel
. It was released in 1996 through Fat Wreck Chords
. It was the band's first album released through Fat Wreck Chords. It was also the band's first album since they disbanded for the second time. The split lasted just over a year, and during that time 3/4 of the band (all minus Jughead) played together in the Riverdales. As a result, much of the album sounds similar to their work in that band. Bark Like a Dog was released to mixed reviews but the band lists it among its very best work. The recording itself sounded a bit more polished and the band's playing a tad more precise, calling some fans to label them "sell-outs". Further fueling this fire was Green Day
's explosive success, bringing punk rock back into the mainstream around the time that Screeching Weasel reunited. As was evident by their actions and music, however, cashing in was the farthest thing from the band's mind. It was the band's only album to ever place a ranking on the Billboard Charts
