It was founded in 1902 by John David Bassett (July 14, 1866 – February 26, 1965) and C.C. Bassett. Bassett Furniture is one of the oldest furniture manufacturers in Virginia and has been producing hand crafted furniture for over 100 years.

History: World War II

During World War II, the company's main plant in Bassett, Virginia produced the wooden truck frames for the troop haulers in Europe.
