at Arakan three times between the years 1942-1945. The first battle took place in December of 1942. It was intended to give British forces confidence in fighting the Japanese. However, the attack was defeated and forced to retreat by the Japanese. The second foray, in December 1943, managed to reach Maungdaw
before it was stopped. In the third and final attack in 1945, the British finally captured Rangoon
