Originally a tiny hamlet, the town became the headquarters for Cory Publishing. Publishing magnate, Mac Cory (played by Douglass Watson
) began publishing the magazine Brava there. His daughter, Iris, continued the tradition when Mac died, starting a magazine called Sophisticate.
