2004 Redevelopment

In 2004 the Bayside Shopping Centre major redevelopment had commenced with a $63-million extension, that included a new 3 level building across Beach Street linked by a multi-level pedestrian bridge. The 3 level building was built on a block of land, adjacent to Beach Street, opposite Myer where a multi-storey carpark used to exist. The new building comprises up to 55 stores on the middle level (level 1) including a Woolworths supermarket and Kmart discount department store, as well as an additional 1,800 car spaces. A small bridge connects the two centres together. The extension was completed in March 2006. Along with this, an entertainment complex was established, separate from the centre itself on Wells Road, at the end of the Shannon Mall. The entertainment complex includes, AMC Cinemas

2010-11 Redevelopment

 fresh food zone. The project is to cost $35-million and it is expected to be completed by mid to late 2011.
The redevelopment also aims to modernise the centre by replacing escalators, repainting, putting in new mall tiles, reconfiguring tenancies and refurbishing restroom facilities. The entire level 1 (on the Myer

 investigated construction at the centre as a result. The escalators outside the Myer store, have been removed and replaced with new ones which face the department store and have been rotated 90 degrees.
