The original station in Bedworth was closed and demolished in 1965 when passenger services were removed from the Coventry-Nuneaton
line. The present station was officially opened on 10 May 1988 with normal passenger traffic from 16 May 1988, a year after passenger services were restored to the line.
Until 2004 Bedworth station had direct links to Leicester
and the East Midlands
. However, as part of changes to track layout at Nuneaton station, the link to the Nuneaton-Leicester
line was removed. As a result, trains on the line currently go between Coventry and Nuneaton only. There is much hope of eventual re-instatement of trackwork at Nuneaton enabling a service to operate again.
