Behenein (meaning: sisters) is an Indian television show produced by J. D. Majethia and shown on STAR Plus
. Now the show is also being telecasted on STAR Vijay
dubbed in Tamil. It is the tale of 4 sisters, Purva(Poornima in Tamil), Smriti (Shruti in Tamil), Akashi (Aarthi in Tamil) and Anokhi(Aruna in Tamil) who go through their adult lives facing obstacles along the way. It show the loving bond of sisterhood and has different twists such as Akashi marrying a man she hates, Shamaldas(Veerabadran in Tamil), Purva marrying Smriti's ex-husband and Smriti and Karan's wedding.
season began and threatened to draw viewers away, the producers revealed their intention to introduce several plot twists, such as the revelation of the kidnapper of Smriti's baby, in order to keep the audience interested. Due to relatively good ratings
, the channel planned to broadcast a four-hour recap in April, and is considering extending the show to one-hour episodes.
Samir takes Anokhi to a hotel and tries to rape her, but luckily Anokhi is saved. Purva found out about everything and he was gone for good, but he didn't tell anyone that Neema Ben hires him. When that plan fails, Neema Ben crashes Akashi's (Arthi in Tamil) wedding day to her love, Kshitij (Ritesh in Tamil) when she hires a goon named Shamar Das ( verabadhra in Tamil )to kidnap Akashi and marry her, she gifts Shamar to Akashi as a wedding present. After Akashi's forced "wedding", Shamar has taken photographs of the wedding. Purva and Mihir get these photographs and know about Akashi's wedding with Shamar, which Akashi hid from them. Kshitij also received a copy of them. Kshitij refuses to accept her and marries someone else. To seek revenge, Akashi goes to Shamar's house to ruin his life, as she is his legal wife. Shamar's mother and sister become very close to Akashi, so Akashi begins to enjoy living there; Mihir, who is married to Purva, has fallen in love with her. , Smriti's look-a-like, Aastha has entered their life with a guy named Karan. Shamar Das goes on a ride with Akashi, and hits a tree. Akashi is bleeding. Recently Smriti got married to Karan. Love blossoms between Akashi and Shamar as Shamar brings her an anklet out of his salary. They stop fighting and Aastha (Smriti) is also enjoying her new life with Karan. Anokhi also finds a new love interest, Bhavesh Karan's friend and slowly has started to fall for him. Anokhi and Bhavesh met as Bhavesh phoned her in a wrong number. Meanwhile Kshitij has taken up courage and goes near Akashi to apologize her but Akashi rejects him and now has invited Shamar to her birthday party. Here it's revealed that Kshitij canceled his wedding with the other girl. Akashi and Mihir had a fight and now Akashi has left the Sanghvi house to Shamar's house as Mihir gave her two choices: Shamar Das or his house. Anokhi's engagement ceremony is stopped as Bhavesh's sister has not arrived yet. Knowing that she came 2 days earlier in order to surprise Bhavesh. Not finding her, they all are worried whether death encountered her. Aastha (Smriti) is upset as Mihir and Purva had an argument for the first time. It's also revealed that Jigna (Bhavesh's sister)'s death happened by an accident which encountered her. Shamar was responsible for this, but he didn't mean to do so. Only Karan and Smriti know this, but acceding to Smriti's request, Karan keeps this between them. But Akashi has started to have thoughts if Shamar was responsible for Jigna's death. Shamar saw that Bhavesh was weak and took him back to the Sanghvi home in his taxi. Mihir gives Shamar the taxi charge. But Shamar doesn't accept it and says that Bhavesh is his wife's sister's future husband. Mihir is stunned by these words, and watches as Shamar stamped out of the house. Bhavesh does not believe Mihir when he tells him the Jigna's death was accidental. They arrested Shamar. Bhavesh later on realizes this. Later it's revealed that Karan is evil and only wants to destroy the living of the 4 sisters. He is also angry with Mihir and Bhavesh for unknown reasons. He gives her time to think over it. Mihir consoles Purva, who is worried about the hearing at court the next day. Smriti is worried about the drastic change in Karan's behavior. She decides to find out the reason behind the same. Gomti notices that Aakashi is upset and questions her. Aakashi hides the truth from her, and assures her of getting Shamaldas out of prison soon. Aakashi decides to accept Kshitij's condition. Kshitij is very happy to hear this. Aakashi is extremely upset. Purva misses Aakashi as she performs the Navratri pooja with Smriti and Anokhi.
Everyone is stunned to see Aakashi joining them for the pooja. Anokhi taunts Aakashi. Aakashi prays for God to protect Shamaldas and his family. It was Karan who killed Jigna and Shamad has won the case. Kshitij is happy, thinking that Aakashi would soon be with him. Shamaldas tells Aakashi that he has a gut feeling about something bad. Aakashi reassures him. Kshitij presents Jigna's original post-mortem reports in the court, which indicate that her death was not caused due to an accident with a vehicle. The doctor testifies in the court, saying that he changed the original report as he was given a bribe of Rs. 15 lakh. Everyone is stunned. Jigna's original post-mortem report indicates that she was under the influence of drugs at the time of her death. The court gives Shamaldas the benefit of doubt, and he is released. The police is ordered to re-investigate Jigna's case. Mihir feels that Shamaldas is innocent. He feels that someone gave drugs to Jigna and left her on the bridge, so that she would hit an oncoming vehicle and her death would seem like an accident. Karan recalls how he got Jigna intoxicated and then pushed her on the bridge in front of an oncoming car, which happened to be Shamaldas's. Mihir promises Bhavesh to find Jigna's killer and get him punished. Purva is happy to see Mihir apologising to Shamaldas. Purva notices that Aakashi is worried, and questions her. Aakashi makes an excuse. Bhavesh vows to find out who killed Jigna. Anokhi promises to support him. Karan is upset that his plan did not succeed even after killing Jigna. He vows to take revenge on the sisters at any cost. Aakashi forgives Anokhi when she apologises for her misbehaviour. Shamaldas notices that Aakashi is upset and questions her. Aakashi makes an excuse. Aakashi is happy when Shamaldas presents her with a surprise gift of bangles. Aakashi tells Shamaldas to go to Purva's house for the pooja, telling him that she will join him later. Kshitij awaits Aakashi. Aakashi hides a bottle of poison in her drawer. She visits a temple, and is extremely upset. Kshitij is happy to see Aakashi at his place, and invites her in. Aakashi is stunned to see that Kshitij has decorated his house for her, with her favourite flowers. Aakashi breaks down when Shamaldas calls her before going to Purva's place. She encourages him not to wait for her. Aakashi is disgusted when Kshitij tries to get close to her. Now Kshitij wants to abuse
Akashi.
Aakashi is angry when Kshitij asks her to spend a night with him, in return for getting Shamaldas out of prison. Kshitij gets angry when Aakashi declares that Shamaldas is a much better human being than him. Aakashi threatens Kshitij of drinking poison, as he comes closer to her. Aakashi and Kshitij are stunned to see Purva at the doorstep. Purva slaps Kshitij for his evil intentions and rescues Aakashi. She tells Aakashi how she came to know about her plan at the temple. Aakashi realises that she loves Shamaldas a lot. Shamaldas is happy to see Aakashi dressed in garba attire, wearing the anklets he had gifted her. He is stunned when Aakashi hugs him in front of everyone and breaks into tears. Purva stops Aakashi from telling Shamaldas anything about Kshitij. Shamaldas is happy when Mihir tells him that he has really changed entirely. Karan makes Shamaldas angry by saying that he is a criminal. Smriti intervenes, and requests them to celebrate Navratri without any bitterness among them. Shamaldas admires Aakashi. Bhavesh refuses to participate in the garba, in spite of Purva, Mihir and Anokhi trying to convince him. Smriti is hurt when Karan refuses to play garba with her.
Karan is angry to see the sisters happy together. Mihir now knows everything meantime purva was pregent she tried to tell this news to mihir but every times she missed that oppurivty and she saw mihir and asatha together and karan noe kidnapped purva and called mihir and told miohir came
and is off to rescue his Smriti. Karan tries to stab purva but mihir arrives and gets karan arrested. Now all the sisters know that Aastha is Smirti and are reunited. they bring her home to her original house but mihir's mother isn't happy because she thinks it will create a rift between purva and mihir's relationship. she now mistreats smriti and doesn't like her at all.Hell breaks loose when aunty Bhupath comes to stay as she is a bitter and stubborn woman. Now Smriti is proved to be innocent and Bhupath is gone.Purva is pregnant But more problems arise when Karan returns again and pretends to be mad.Prem birthday arrives but mihir is nit there for it. Shamal is sick and tired of his work and seeing that he hardly gets any salary so he thinks of joining his friend rakesh into smuggling. His manager is Goyal who Mihir is against. Shamal gets diamond earring for akashi from Goyal and says that they are fake. Purva finds 1 of the earrings and shows her mother-in-law and she says they are real. Purva gets suspicious and takes the earring to their jeweller and the jeweller declares that they are a rare African. Purva figures out that shmal is smuggling and he also admits it in front of her. Purva says that she will tell Akashi but Shamal says that he will never let this happen. Shamal buys a new car.
Rama has lost her daughter Puchki because her husband who is really bad took her so now they are all getting worried and puchki also gets run over by a car and dies and rama is really upset and blames it all on Purva because she lost her in the first place when she really didn't.
Everyone thinks it is an accident but rama does not she thinks it is all Purva's fault.
After a few days they all find out that Puchki is in hospital and she dies.
Rama goes mad because Puchki was her life so now in return Rama wants Purva's son Prem but they don't want to and she does.
They are planning on to give Prem to her because they cant do anything about it.
Rama wants Prem and will get Prem.
In the meanwhile the rest of them plan a goodbye party for prem but are very very very very upset!!!
Aaakashi comes to the Sanghvi house saying that she saw puchki while she was shopping but she got in to a car with a man who turns out to be her father who wanted to sell her for money. Mihir goes to find they find there is a shooting at the place where they find puchki and Mihir is hurt and rama dies. Rama's last wish is where that Puchki's guardian is purva and miher so they adopted her. Aaakashi is pregnant. Aaakashi decides gets abortion. Then Shamal realises his mistake after seeing Viren's real girlfriend. The next day, Shamal quits his job. Anokhi and Bhavesh get engaged. Purva has her baby and names it after her mother who died

Synopsis
On the auspicious day of Purva's (poornima in Tamil ) (the eldest sister) wedding, her parents room catches fire while they are inside and they die. After this incident, their father's sister, Neema Ben (Hema in Tamil) comes with her son to take care of the sisters. In truth, she wants her brother's property all for herself and leave the sisters homeless. But in her brother's will, he says that the property will go to Neema after all the 4 sisters, (as Smriti (shruthi in Tamil) is married to Mihir Sanghvi (Mahesh in Tamil), get married and sign the will. Thus, begins the struggles of these Behnein (sisters) as their aunt tries to ruin their lives, and how they stay strong, as well as how Purva keeps all her sisters happy and safe. How Neema Ben acts nice and is really evil. Smriti is driven insane by her mother-in-law, Kamini (Sharmila in Tamil) and as a result she is admitted to a mental hospital. Under these circumstances, Purva marries Smriti's husband, Mihir, who is a lawyer, to take care of Smriti's son, Prem. Their marriage wasn't a love marriage but, Purva did it sacrificing herself to Smriti. As the time progresses Purva and Mihir begin to develop close feelings for one another. Amar, Purva's fiance, becomes heartbroken upon realizing the circumstances and is currently not shown in the serial. After some time, Smriti ends up dying in a car accident, and Mihir and Purva take their relationship to a higher level. Anokhi (Aruna in Tamil) is staying at her father's mansion happily, but Neema Ben plots to ruin Anokhi's life.
