The Belarusian First League is the second division of professional football
in Belarus
. There are 16 teams in the competition. At the end of the season the winner gets promoted to Belarusian Premier League
and runner-up advances to the promotion play-offs, while two lowest-placed teams get relegated to Belarusian Second League and get replaced with two top Second League teams. It is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation.
