by departing in a plane from Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe National Army seized the plane on March 9, 2004 before it took off and arrested the mercenaries. Asked by the press whether the army had been put on full alert, Ncube said he regarded the incident as "normal procedure."
On June 8, 2007 the Zimbabwean government announced that Ncube is believed to have been a leader of a group of military officials who plotted to overthrow the Mugabe administration
. He is under house arrest in Harare
