The oil field was discovered in 1977 at the sea depth of 113 metres (370.7 ft). A flow test was conducted on well 9/3b-6z by Xcite Energy and it is expected that the well will go into full production in 2011.

The recoverable reserves are 160 Moilbbl of oil and total oil in place is estimated about 690 Moilbbl. The field is being drilled using horizontal drilling
