History

Bergen Tech was originally a shared-time vocational school which was completely revamped in 2000 to be a full-time, academic high school with students taking classes in their particular "majors."

 (NNJIL), starting with the 2006-07 school year. Bergen Tech is classified by the NJSIAA as North I, Group IV.

In 2006, the Bergen Tech football team, carried by Donny "Long John" Londono and Junior quarterback Dan "Cielo" Syed, won their first NNJIL Division Championship. They also participated in the state playoffs for the first time in the schools history. They lost in the 1st round to Randolph high school.

In 2007, Junior Running back Joe 'Black Back' Miles broke the school single season rushing record and became the All-time leading rusher for the Knights football team.

In 2007, the girls tennis team won the North I, Group IV state sectional championship with a 4-1 win over Ridgewood High School

 in the tournament finals. The win was the team's second consecutive title, and their third since 2003.

In 2010, the girls Varsity Bowling team won first place in the NJTAC technical high school tournament. The team came in 3rd at counties and 2nd in the league. The JV girls won first place in the league.

In 2011, the boys Junior Varsity Soccer team qualified for the Bergen County Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Tournament after defeating River Dell through a penalty shootout after a double overtime. In the next stage of the tournament, the round of 16, the Knights proceeded to generate a considerable upset by defeating the tournament favorites Don Bosco 1-0 in regulation time. Their run to the finals was cut short when they were knocked out in the quartefinals by Northern Valley Demarest 1-0 in regulation time.

In 2010 and 2011, the girl's Varsity Softball team won the the NJTAC state championship.

Greenhouse complex

The High School has resumed activities within the greenhouse complex at the school. The students will be learning about topics in the areas of environmental science and horticulture. As of this time the complex and program is under preparation for classes and studies.
