Bernd Rechts is a fictional character

, and was sent to monitor Prince Ethan, the Sigil-Bearer
.
He offers his services to the Heron Kingdom, but in reality he has been sent (perhaps by the High Council of House Dexter) to monitor Prince Ethan, the Sigil-Bearer
on the planet. Rechts learns that another member of The First
, Mai Shen from House Sinister, has also taken up residence on the planet. Since House Dexter and House Sinister are in a state of near constant warfare, he proceeds cautiously.
In Scion
#15, Rechts and Mai Shen arrange a secret meeting. There Mai Shen explains her desire now is to rule the world through the Raven Dynasty, and suddenly attacks and kills Rechts. She then takes on his form and lures a portion of the Heron army into an ambush. Most of the Heron group is destroyed in the resulting battle.
