Bhanjanagar is a town and a notified area committee in Ganjam district
in the state of Orissa

. The city, earlier named as Rasulkonda, is renamed later after (Great Poet) Kavi Samrat Upendra Bhanja. Bhanjanagar is a planned and beautiful town situated in confluence of river Loharakhandi and Badanadi. It is 80 KMs north to Berhampur and 85 KMs south to Phulabani. It has got road connections to almost all towns of Orissa and day and night buses are plying from this town to other towns. Hindus, Muslims, Christians are residing in this town peacefully and amicably. There are several temples, mosque and churches. It has got several colleges, schools and other institutes. To the north of the town a beautiful reservoir is located with a catchment area of 25 square miles. The water of this reservoir irrigates many acres of land of Ghumushar(Bhanjanagar), Berhampur and Chhatrapur sub-divisions and also supllies drinking water to Bhanjanagar and Berhampur city. Its construction was completed in the year 1894. The panoramic view of the reservoir attracts and enchants tourists from different parts of our country.
