Biar is a name for cobra in dinka. Dinka is the largest tribe in Southsudan, and has so many subgroups. Each group is distinct from others by dialect.Most dinkas, before christianity and islam, believed in nature. They believed they had a connection in the past with animals, and animals like cobra were divine and were respected by naming people after them. Now there are lots of dinkas with biar as their name, which simply stands for cobra.
