Deans gets the drop on Sheriff Henry Gifford and enables Billy to escape. As they flee, the sheriff's friend, a storekeeper named Copeland, takes out a long-range rifle and fires a shot that hits Deans in the leg. Billy creates a cot on which Arch can ride, dragged behind a horse.
Pursued by the ruthless, bigoted Gifford, the two bandits encounter other trouble on the trail, including four drunken Indians who demand whiskey from them. Left behind at a ranch while Deans goes for fresh horses, Billy develops feelings for Esther, the rancher's young, abused wife.

Plot
During a bank robbery in the American west, the partner of a Scottish outlaw named Arch Deans is killed and his young Indian friend Billy Two Hats is captured by the law.Deans gets the drop on Sheriff Henry Gifford and enables Billy to escape. As they flee, the sheriff's friend, a storekeeper named Copeland, takes out a long-range rifle and fires a shot that hits Deans in the leg. Billy creates a cot on which Arch can ride, dragged behind a horse.
