In 2007, Geneious Pro was selected for the National Science and Research Network, signed partnerships with the Microsoft BioIT Alliance and won two awards: The United Nations World Summit Award in the category e-science and a Computerworld Excellence award for innovative use of ICT.
Also in 2007, Founder Dr. Alexei Drummond won the Royal Hamilton Memorial Prize for Contributions to Computational Biology.
In 2008, Biomatters launched Geneious Pro 4.0, developed plugins for a suite of EMBOSS
tools and an importer for Vector NTI
, enabling capability in new areas, e.g. restriction analysis
and cloning
. Biomatters also launched a partnership with the Smithsonian Institution
and UC Berkeley on the Moorea BioCode Project to barcode the estimate 30,000 species on the island of Moorea
and formed a partnership with InterGrid to provide the GreenButton supercomputing power inside Geneious Pro for ClustalW and Mr Bayes. Biomatters formed a partnership with TimeLogic to integrate Geneious Pro with the accelerated algorithms on DeCypher cards.
Also in 2008, Biomatters CEO Candace Toner was a finalist in the Bayer Innovation Awards for Top Innovator in Science for New Zealand.
