Bitteswell is a small village and civil parish
in the Harborough
district of Leicestershire
in England
. It is close to Lutterworth, and situated just to the north of that town, and in the 2001 census
had a population of 454. It was recorded in the Domesday Book as Betmeswelle.
It was the site of RAF Bitteswell, an airfield used in the Second World War. Hawker Siddeley Aviation had a factory close by, where Vulcan
bombers were built and maintained.
The Village also has a small C of E Primary School, St. Mary's C of E primary.
it also houses a Church or England church, St Mary's. There is a pub called "The Man at Arms", part of the King Henry Taverns group.
