Emergency Services

Because Black Eagle is not an incorporated city, it does not have the same levels of emergency services as the neighboring city of Great Falls.

Law Enforcement services are handled by the Cascade County Sheriff's office with the exception of motor vehicle accidents which are handled by the Montana Highway Patrol. The Cascade County Sherrifs Office Provides law enforcement services via 41 uniformed deputy sheriff's.

Emergency Medical Services are contracted by Cascade County from Great Falls Emergency Services, a private for profit Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance service located in neighboring Great Falls.

In 2004 a new Emergency Medical Services Unit was added to Black Eagle. Funded By Cascade County Disaster and Emergency Services (DES) a Quick Response Unit, composed of Volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) was started, to date they have assisted in over 650 calls for service. Currently the Black Eagle Quick Response Unit Has Three Active EMT's.

Fire protection within Black Eagle was provided by Great Falls Fire/Rescue by contract until 1972 when the community decided to drop the fire protection agreement from the City of Great Falls and instead use the taxes that paid for that protection to form a volunteer fire department. Since forming the volunteer fire department which started with a one stall garage to house a single pumper truck the department has grown to a fleet of 6 fire trucks ranging from a KME Structure Pumper to a 2005 Ford E550 Light Rescue Unit, operating out of a 3 garage bay station complete with a kitchen and training area. Currently the fire department operates on a budget of just under $60,000 dollars a year, protecting over 250 square miles (647.5 km²) of Districts. The fire department currently has 24 active members and responds to approximately 125 calls for service. In 2010, Due to the low number of active Quick Response Units, the Black Eagle Volunteer Fire Department Began to respond to numerous medical emergencies within the normal response area. Over 50% of the department hold certifications of EMT-Basic or higher. The current Fire Chief is Tom Martin who has held the position for 2 years and is a 15 year veteran of the fire department.
