History

Nathan H. Blitman started his practice in 1933 and, upon the passage of the National Labor Relations Act

, quickly became a pioneer providing labor law advice to unions. His practice expanded to employee benefit matters when the first multiemployer pension plan was created in 1940. In 1966, Blitman promoted associate Bernard T. King to partner and renamed the firm Blitman & King. The firm opened its Rochester, NY office in 1986 and its Albany, NY office in 2003.

Blitman & King and its lawyers have been recognized in Super Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal, and Best Lawyers in America. The firm’s lawyers are Fellows of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Bernard King served on the Formation Board of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. Pro Bono Activities

Blitman & King has long maintained a position of leadership in the communities it services through the provision of pro bono legal services. The firm was awarded the 2008 President’s Pro Bono Service Award by the New York State Bar Association and has been recognized in publications for its pro bono efforts.
