Blood Surf is a 2001 horror
film directed by James D.R. Hickox. It was released in the United States on June 26, 2001 but was released earlier in some countries. The plot of the movie entails a pair of entrepreneurs with more bravery than brains hit upon the idea of blood surfing: spreading chum in the water in order to attract sharks, then hopping on a surfboard and riding through the middle of the pack. As they're filming their promotional documentary, the fun gets interrupted by a thirty-foot long salt water crocodile
that begins snacking on everyone in the expedition.
), with camera lady Cecily (Kate Fischer
) and slimy producer Zack (Matthew Borlenghi). Cecily is dating Zack, but Bog seems to have an interest in her. Jeremy, however, is your typical extreme sporter stereotype, while Bog is surf-obsessed who lives and breathes surfing.
After arriving, they are headed to shark rich waters by an even remoter island, so they contact local man John (Duncan Regehr
) and his girl Arti (Taryn Reif). John at first refuses to go, but then relents and accepts the job, much for his mysterious character. And then a local family is also involved in the sailing, but mainly just so they can have a hot native girl daughter, Lemmya (Maureen Larrazabal), who gets attracted to Jeremy. The group heads out to the shark zone
, despite John being plagued by visions of swimming people being devoured by something in the water and screaming. Chums of blood is later thrown in to attract the sharks, then Bog and Jeremy suit up, slit their feet, and went surfing among a group of shark fins where an underwater shot with the sharks are added in digitally. But as the surfing continues, suddenly a shark is eaten by something gigantic that throws water in the air like explosion, where blood fills the ocean. Bog and Jeremy wisely call it a day.
The crew goes to the island nearby, where Jeremy and Lemmya spent a passionate time together. But, while Lemmya enjoys the pleasure, her parents, Melba (Susan Africa) and Sonny (Cris Vertido), are eaten by something in the water, leaving their boat smashed. Lemmya never finds out, but as she goes to wash off, she herself gets devoured where an enjoyable day for Jeremy turns into an island nightmare. Bog, Cecily, John, Arti, Jeremy and Zack quickly went back to the boat but finds it nowhere. Bog, Jeremy, Zack and Cecily try to go get the camera, but then are attacked underwater by whatever it is that killed the other people, so they ran back to the island, but then are held captive by local pirates.
The pirates take them hostage and gets them on their boat. Zack is willing to sell out Cecily to the pirates for sex, but the pirates who's dream was to have sex with a white woman instead gets eaten by a giant crocodile, who leaps out of the water. This energizes Bog and the others into dumping the rest of the pirates into the sea, where they get eaten, except one of the pirates who escapes. The boat is shot, and thus catches on fire, and then explodes, because the boat was apparently filled with dynamite and gasoline. John and Arti, after eventually finding their boat, pick up Bog, Cecily, Zack and Jeremy before the giant crocodile attacks them. But John wants a rematch with the croc for killing his entire passenger manifest on an Adventure Tour. Zack wants to film the killing, but John denies him. John tries something, but then Jeremy gets eaten and then John rams his boat into a coral reef for some reason having to do with not being able to outrun the croc. Instead he, Bog, Cecily, Arti and Zack just got stranded off shore of a deserted island with the primeval. Zack panics, and tries to surf away from the wreck, but is eaten in a few seconds. John has rigged the wreck of his boat to explode, but the croc attacks and eats him from the waste down, so his body stops at his torso and he can't blow up the boat. The two girls get ashore, but the surviving pirate catches them, and tells Arti that white women like abusive men because he read it on a website, but he gets cut down by a spear trap. Cecily and Arti make it to a temple on the island and are safe from the predator who won't go near to the place, despite the gratuitous flashing of groaning noises.
Bog, on the other hand, has made his way back on the wrecked ship retrieving the explosives, and reunites with Cecily and Arti. He soon gets the croc to attack near him, and blows up a wall on it. The croc falls and Arti starts beating the animal's body, but in a surprise, the croc stood back on its feet and devours Arti. Bog and Cecily ran, where the croc eventually chases them, falling under an impaling trap where Bog and Cecily remained as the survivors in their Blood Surfing Adventure.
