Encyclopedia
Bluegreen Corporation is a public real-estate and timeshare resort developer headquartered in Boca Raton, FL. They are a leader in providing "Colorful Places to Live and Play" and currently have more than 3,500 associates in over 50 resorts nationwide. Since 1996, Bluegreen has managed, marketed and sold a flexible, real estate-based vacation ownership plan with more than 208,000 owners, over 54 owned or managed resorts, and access to more than 4,000 resorts worldwide.
The Bluegreen Communities division has been operating since 1985, and evolved from the company's original land business. The division has developed master-planned residential and golf communities primarily in the southern and southeastern U.S., and has sold over 55,000 homesites since its inception.
Bluegreen also provides several comprehensive, turn-key, fee-for-service resort management, financial, lead generation and sales services to resort developers and lenders.
Bluegreen acquired RDI Group in 1997, thereby adding resorts in Florida and Wisconsin, as well as management contracts with other resorts in the southeast. Because of this purchase, Bluegreen became one of the largest property managers of timeshare resorts in the U.S., and shortly thereafter began marketing vacation ownership under the Bluegreen Vacation Club name.
In 2000, Bluegreen established one of the timeshare industry’s first national retail alliances through a marketing agreement with Bass Pro Shops, Inc. The agreement provides the company opportunities to market Bluegreen vacation packages at Bass Pro retail locations, in their catalogs and on the company's web site.
Since 2005, Bluegreen has added new resort destinations in places like Las Vegas, Williamsburg, Phoenix, Atlantic City, New Orleans, the Bahamas and Cape Cod.
