Education
Bokaro Thermal has a plethora of esteemed schools affiliated to the central and state education boards. The notable ones are Carmel School, DAV Public School Sawang, DAV Public School Kathara, Kendriya Vidyalaya, St Paul's School, DVC High School, Pitts Modern School Gomia. There are schools run under the aegis of the DVC management, and some run by the Central government. However, the scope of quality education after schooling is limited due to the lack of good colleges and this is probably a blessing in disguise, since it forces the students to look for avenues outside, and they excel in most all India level competitive examinations. Pitts Modern school(CBSE), Gomia is one of the best schools near BTPS (Bokaro Thermal Power Station). Carmel School (ICSE board), which is till 10th class only, is well-known for its discipline and the quality of education. Only one college for graduation is in BTPS.Industry

- BTPS 'A' was started in 1952 and closed down on 17th July 2000 for violating pollution norms.
- BTPS 'B' has three power generating units totalling 630 MW (3×210). The first unit was commissioned in 1986.
