Borrowash is a village in the Erewash

, situated immediately east of the Derby
city boundary.
By way of food and drink there are four public houses, two Indian restaurants, three takeaways and a cafe.
The local football team Borrowash Victoria A.F.C.
play in the East Midlands Counties Football League
, but their home ground, namely the Watkinson Construction Bowl, is in the neighbouring Derby suburb of Spondon

. From Borrowash, Rainbow 4 offers a substantially shorter journey time to Nottingham of around 45 minutes compared to 1 hour and 5 minutes on Indigo. However tickets are interchangeable between the two services. Rainbow 4 will soon become i4, with buses designed espeiclaly for the route.
Whilst there is a plethora of bus routes in Borrowash there are no direct bus services to nearby Pride Park
which plays host to a number of amenities including big name retailers, Numerous restaurants, public houses and fast food establishments, Derby County Football Club and a large number of employers throughout the development.
To the south of the village there was once a railway station (Borrowash railway station
opened by the Midland Railway
) and the Derby Canal
with two locks. The station was built in 1839 and closed to passengers in 1966. The canal is currently being restored, with the work on one of the locks nearing completion. The area which the canal used to run through is currently a public footpath linking Borrowash and Spondon.
Route 6 on the National Cycle network also connects Borrowash to Derby via the riverside path, which runs along the route of the canal to Elvaston then parallel to this for the duration of the journey.
