s in sun-parched fields of barley, visible from the air, revealed the existence of a previously unsuspected 1st-century temporary Roman camp, one of only four detected in southwest Britain.

The main local sports club - 'Bradford Abbas FC' has been resurrected in recent years, with a young, enthusiastic, loyal management team and group of players.
Success came in the first season (2009/10) in the form of promotion from The Yeovil & District Division Three.
The following season saw The Abbas reach the final of the Division Two League Cup, losing out to League & Cup double winners Aller Park Rangers FC.

In 2011, the introduction of a committee board was made with the sole intention to improve the productivity and efficiency of the clubs everyday goings on. This board consisted of; Matthew Royal - Chairman, Jamie Denne - Secretary, Matthew Taylor - Treasurer/First Team Manager, John Gibbs - Club Captain & Darren Nation - Club Vice Captain.

The club is currently training and playing pre-season friendlies in the local area.
