Product of the Florida State University School. Jenkins carried a four-star rating and was considered the No. 2 defensive end in the state as a senior. He recorded 44 career sacks in three seasons, including 20 as a senior, to go along with 80 tackles. An all around athlete Jenkins also earned second team All-State honors in basketball as a junior. As a true freshman Jenkins played in 12 of 13 games after enrolling in January 2009. He had 12 total tackles and three tackles for loss, including one in the Seminoles' Gator Bowl victory over West Virginia. He saw his playing time increase in passing situations late in the season. He managed to lead the team in quarterback hurries with four.
