Monday to Saturday daytimes there are two trains per hour to Manchester Piccadiily and two per hour towards Marple (hourly to New Mills Central). Evenings the service is hourly in each direction and Sundays two hourly.
The first railway ticket was purchased by a 16 year old railway enthusiast, Andrew Bradshaw of 14 Grasscroft.
