History

Bristow opened on September 1st, 2005. Bristow is noticeably smaller than the two other Middle Schools in West Hartford, with roughly 420 students. Like the other middle schools, there is a homeroom (called 'Advisory' at Bristow), academic core periods, electives such as art and wellness, lunch, world language (either Spanish or French), a learning lab and academic support.

Enrollment at Bristow is via a lottery-like program that automatically includes students who attend each elementary public school in West Hartford. Students who are not enrolled in a public school, but reside in West Hartford must apply to be included in the program. Unlike to other two Middle Schools, Bristow's students represent all of the District's Elementary Schools. In this manner, Bristow represents the diversity of the entire School District.
