. It was founded by the entertainer/producer Nigel Lythgoe
- the producer for shows such as So You Think You Can Dance
as well as American Idol
, the former British Consul-General in Los Angeles, Bob Peirce
and Paul J Wright Esq who serves as its General Counsel . Peirce is the Chairman of BritWeek Inc, and Lythgoe is the President. Other board members are Peter Asher
, Fiona Francois, Mike Krycler, Sharon Harroun Peirce, Neil Stiles
, and Simon Wright. The Executive Director is Mindy Gail.
BritWeek (www.britweek.org) is primarily known for its annual program of events held in Los Angeles and Orange County
each year. The first BritWeek was in 2007, in September. But for the last two years BritWeek has been held in the spring, late April to early May. The dates for BritWeek 2010 are April 20 to May 9. BritWeek 2010 will also include San Francisco for the first time.

are all celebrated and profiled and numerous British companies participate as sponsors. British companies collectively are the largest foreign investors in California. This, plus the large British presence in the state, and the number of Brits prominent in key professions, have all contributed to the rapid growth of BritWeek. In the three years of the event's existence, it has become a strong media brand.
BritWeek runs for about three weeks. The founders are unapologetic about this and have shown no disposition to change its name.
