Brite Side
Encyclopedia
Brite Side was the third single from Deborah Harry
's third solo album, Def, Dumb and Blonde
. The single was only released in the UK and was only a very minor success, peaking at #59, it was a severe drop-off from Harry's previous single "I Want That Man
" which was a top twenty hit. The single failed to chart on any other major chart outside of the UK.
The song is an eerie and smoky ballad that stands out on its parent album, Def, Dumb and Blonde
. The single generated a fairly large promotional campaign and Harry did several performances on UK television upon its release.
The song is featured prominently in the Second Season of the American television show Wiseguy starring Ken Wahl. The song was the cornerstone of the "Dead Dog Records Arc", where Harry played a singer named Diana Price who was trying to have one last hit. The song she "wrote" was "Brite Side". It was played heavily through the first two episodes of the arc (Dead Dog Lives, And It Comes Out Here).
