The racial makeup of the town was 98.45% White, 1.11% Native American, 0.22% Asian, and 0.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.11% of the population.
There were 199 households out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% were married couples
living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.7% were non-families. 31.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.86.
In the town the population was spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.1 males.

In addition to the high school, Broadus Public Schools also operates an elementary and junior high school. The junior and senior high schools have a combined enrollment of 182 students. The elementary school had an enrollment of about 150 for the 2005-06 school year, in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.
