Bell got into music from an early age. He began taking piano

lessons when he was in the second grade. Throughout his school years he was very involved in music. He was also involved in his church musical group.
When he was 12 years old, Bell became one of the church pianists which helped him develop his skills greatly. Later he began teaching private lessons, while still studying with Steve Quesnel. He also studied classical organ and trumpet

Even though he was trained in classical and church music, Bell showed interest in pop/rock music. He went on to study piano at Wheaton Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College

Bell earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 1996. He then moved to Nashville, Tennessee
