Buckhaven High School is a six year co-educational non-denominational comprehensive school with a current roll of 1226. In the past Buckhaven was the Levenmouth's high school for pupils that were able to pass their eleven plus exam. The school's motto is Perseverando.
In 2010/2011, it had a budget of £4,644,558 of which £4,509,358 was spent on employee costs.
The school is also known for its brilliant orchestra, windband, string orchestra and choirs. There are numerous sports teams, including the upcoming rugby team: The Buckhaven Sharks coached by Mr Willie Allan.
The school
The school’s origins date back to the 1860s and for many years it occupied a site in College Street, Buckhaven. The present building has been in use since 1957 and in 1976 an extension was completed. The school recently underwent refurbishment work in order to upgrade the existing office and make the school more accessible.In 2010/2011, it had a budget of £4,644,558 of which £4,509,358 was spent on employee costs.
Facilities
The school has a range of facilities and is surrounded by extensive playing fields. In addition to the usual facilities there are open plan areas for Science, Technical Education and Home Economics, a Lecture Theatre, Assembly Hall and stage, a large Resources Centre, Language Classrooms, Computing/ICT rooms, Technology rooms and a Games Hall.The school is also known for its brilliant orchestra, windband, string orchestra and choirs.
