History

The castle was first mentioned in 1142 as the castrum Hohenburc, as the seat of the old noble family of the Counts of Lurn, who administered the Lurngau. Upon the death of Bishop Altmann of Trent in 1149, the castle became the property of Salzburg. The Archbishop of Salzburg
