The number of cases of "disturbances of the peace", the term used for harm caused by Israeli citizens to Palestinians and their property, increase in 2008 the data available indicates that there were 429 incidents in the first half of 2008, compared with 587 incidents in all of 2006 and 551 in 2007.
On February 10, 2010, an 18-year old Burin resident was wounded by a settler security guard. The settlers asserted that the shooting was in response to village youths throwing stones on a group of settlers who gathered on Burin lands which the settlers claim.
