 (FCPA). It was built on land that had been purchased by the federal government in the 1950s for an international airport, before the site of Dulles Airport was chosen as a replacement.

Many activities and facilities are offered by the park.

The Golf Club (at the north entrance on Ox Rd) includes an 18-hole par 3 golf course, a driving range, and a clubhouse with snack bar.

The main (middle entrance, $10/veh.) leads to the Ranger Station, camp store, & Nature Center, miniature train, carousel, outdoor volleyball courts, open fields, disk golf, horse shoe pits, an ice cream parlor, picnic areas with grills, 3 playgrounds, amphitheater, miniature golf course, camp grounds, miles of trails, and marina. Nominal fees are required for boat rentals, camping, carousel, train and other activities.

The southmost Ox Rd entrance is to a second, public boat launch/ramp.
A 4.68 miles (7.5 km) trail surrounds the lake starting at the marina parking lot, crossing both launch ramps, and most of the activity areas.
